CareerStart
Run by student and parent volunteers, CareerStart connects Convent & Stuart Hall rising sophomores and juniors with 1–4 week Bay Area summer internships.
Students explore careers, build workplace skills, and gain real-world experience. Employers get a meaningful way to mentor and make an impact.
Along the way, students create resumes, interview, communicate with employers, and experience the workplace firsthand.
How It Works
- 1
Employers submit an internship description outlining the role using the Employer Internship Template.
- 2
Students apply with a resume and cover letter. CareerStart volunteers collect applications for easy Employer review.
- 3
Employers review student applications and interview candidates over zoom.
- 4
Employers select their intern(s) and coordinate summer internship timing directly with them.
- 5
After the internship, employers and students share feedback to help improve the program.
From past employers
“Our interns worked on social media campaigns, including a full social media takeover, and led research projects that directly supported our client teams. The students also sat in on internal team meetings and live client meetings to gain a genuine, real-world understanding of how a PR agency operates day-to-day.”
“The CareerStart Program provided us with student interns that made a real impact for our campaign and helped us with many outreach projects, some of which we did not have the resources to do without them.”
“Our 3 interns were assigned to build specific AI agents for healthcare. We spent 20% of our time up front helping them learn the business, and they were able to get their agents developed mostly independently.”
“Our intern got exposure to an executive that runs each group of our organization. This allowed the intern to get a picture of how our overall organization runs. It was also fun for the intern to go into the field and visit properties and potential acquisitions.”
